The Hennessey Fire of 2020
On Aug. 17th, 2020 an unusual lightning storm tore through the Bay Area, starting numerous fires, two of which would expand into the second and third largest fire ever recorded in the California. Unlike the Atlas Fire of 2017, the Rector plateau remained at the edge of the very large LNU Complex FIre. We lost some trees in the winds that proceeded the lightning storm, but our house was again spared. Only one house, at the very end of the road, was tragically lost.
Within two months another fire ignited near Angwin, burning both sides of the Napa Valley. The fire left one of the most iconic areas of the valley charred and deforested, and damaged numerous wineries.
