In 2019 Mui's chorus made a tour of the Baltic states. Helsinki, Finland was the first stop on the tour with subsequent performances in Tallinn, Estonia, Riga, Latvia and Stockholm, Sweden. We then spent a few days in Denmark.
It was interesting, at a time when unfettered capitalism in the US is again creating 19th century levels of inequality and corruption, to be in nations where people take pride in being able to create a comfortable life for the whole of society instead of great wealth for a few. Finland, Sweden, Denmark (as well as Canada!) rank among the happiest 9 nations on earth. The US is 19th (and even worse in every sub-category but GDP). The sense of nations committed first to the well being of their citizens was palpable through out the trip.
