I returned to Tunisia as a tourist in late 1994. As the images attest, little had changed in the intervening quarter century - both the photographer and his subject seem to have developed little. There were some infrastructure additions to the capital and subtle rural changes in the availability of electricity, water and consumer goods that probably made big but unobvious differences in peoples lives. Sadly the pace of development seemed unlikely to diminish the envy or animosity engendered by the prosperity so evident in the first world.
