We decided on a day trip to the costal town of Essaouira. It was a great day. On the route we stumbled upon a Moroccan horse fantasia, a local competition among family teams to display skill in horsemanship. We seemed to be the only tourists- very nice. The fishing port of Essaouira is extremely photogenic with its blue-boated port and seaside medina. It retained, amid the bustle of fishermen unloading, cleaning and selling their catches, the authenticity missing in Marrakech.
