Glacier National Park and Environs
In 2017 a memorial took us to Glacier National Park, a place that we probably never would have seen otherwise. The landscape is majestic. But the number of visitors is somewhat overwhelming, and every parking lot was full. The glaciers still exist, but sadly one can see that the end is near. And there are vast areas of the park showing the effects of major forest fires and pine beetles. All are the result, no doubt, of a warming climate. But while we may lament what we are inflicting our natural environment, the one sustaining thought is that it will probably all return in pristine beauty, again covered in glaciers and healthy forests, at some point long after the age of humans has ended.
