My parents lived in Carmel and during their last days I visited often. I have a favorite place to spend the time around sunset, a rocky beach more interesting photographically than anything at Point Lobos jutting into the horizon. The way to the beach is by a rustic nursery school and I have always called the place 'Schoolhouse Beach' but it has no name on the map. An owl of a rock stands sentinel over the outcropping and a finger (or something else) points to the sky - it is truly a place of magic.
