Powerhouse
In 2001 the last remains of the Hercules Powder Company, a manufacturer of explosives and then fertilizer from the 1880's until the 1960's, still stood at the edge of the San Francisco Bay. The powerhouse was separated from the rest of the facility by the mainline tracks connecting the Bay Area with Sacramento, and survived the suburban development of the rest of the factory site from the 1970's onward. It too would soon be gone, but not before one last photo outing with my little-used 4x5 kit.
Two other 4x5 efforts are here and here.
