We patronized two of the thermal baths for which Budapest is famous. The Gellert Hotel (where we stayed) and its Baths are remnants of a grander age of travel, with a slightly dowdy character suitable in a former socialist republic. Plans are now underway to turn it into a 5-star hotel for 21st century elites. The city-owned Széchenyi Baths are the largest thermal baths in Europe, a grand gesture to public life now increasingly rare.
